Keith Thirgood's demo March 10, 2015

At this first meeting of 2015, members got to see a great demo by Keith Thirgood who paints plein air a lot, mainly in acrylic. He showed how he made a small sketch from a photo he projected on screen before proceeding with the actual painting. He uses a different colour wheel from others, picking his three basic colours : Hansen Yellow, Quinacridone Magenta and Phthalo blue (green shade). He always painted on black background after, gesso-ing his board with black gesso. He emphasises on big shapes.
